Review of the season: Sportsmail looks back on one of the craziest Premier League campaigns ever



Manchester United's struggles, the return of the 'Special One', Liverpool's unlikely climb to the top and Man City's title win; this season had it all. From Alan Pardew's headbutt, to Steven Gerrard's slip, to David Moyes' disastrous season at Old Trafford, this campaign has kept us transfixed all year long. Sportsmail looks back at one of the craziest Premier League seasons ever.   ARSENAL (4th) Arsene Wenger will be disappointed his side could not sustain their title bid but will settle for fourth and victory in the FA Cup final. STAR MAN: Aaron Ramsey.  TOP SCORER: Giroud 16. League high: *1st.  League low: 4th. (*all positions after five games) Stat of the season: Tally of 79 points is Arsenal’s best return for six seasons. Impressive: Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey started the campaign before being ruled out through injury ASTON VILLA (15th) Another relegation struggle leaves the club in limbo with an owner who wants to sell,  a manager uncertain of his position and few financial guarantees. STAR MAN: Fabian Delph. TOP SCORER: Benteke 10. League high: 9th.  League low: 16th. Stat of the season: Picked up 78 yellow cards this season, more than any other team. CARDIFF (20th) Shambles. Embarrassment. Farce. Take your pick. A first top-flight season in 51 years ended in relegation, with owner Vincent Tan the subject of constant abuse from fans. STAR MAN: David Marshall. TOP SCORER: Mutch 7. League high: 11th.  League low: 20th. Stat of the season: Scored 18 goals from open play, the fewest in the league. CHELSEA (3rd) Flair has been rare and yet they reached Champions League last four, challenged for the title and were supreme in games against top-four rivals. STAR MAN: Eden Hazard.  TOP SCORER: Hazard 14. League high: 1st.  League low: 4th. Stat of the season: Points total of 82 is the lowest return of Jose Mourinho’s managerial career.
